XBOX LIVE IS 100 TIMES BETTER THAN PSN!!!

The arcade games on the PS3 suck ass, Hardly any one plays online, you can't voice chat while playing a game. Only thing I can think of that the PSN has over XBOX live is the price.

Why would I want to pay $399 for the PS3 while the cheapest XBOX for $199 can play about 90% of the PS3's game library.

and then you will probably talk about the 3 red rings of death while ignoring the disc read errors that the PS2 had and how many times you gave your NES games a blow job.
Sounds like you've got some sand in your vagina. If you spend a lot of time playing arcade games on your next gen console I think you're a douche. I never had the 3 red rings, but I did have a ps2 that developed disc read errors. I opened it up and fixed it in about an hour, really really not a big deal.
I didn't buy a game console to play online, thats a bonus I guess. I have "real life" friends to play video games with. And no voice chat while in game? I have a cell phone! Not like I'd want to talk to anybody while playing anyway.
Have gamers really taken 2 completely opposite paths these days?
Things I care about:
1. Paying once, not BUTT FUCKING MONTHLY. My console and my credit card don't team up and jointly go on the rag.

2. Playing a game without people disturbing me. Not chit chatting, gossiping, or otherwise giving a shit about what anyone else has to say unless they're sitting on the couch with me.

3. Playing new games with new graphics that wow and amaze me, and getting sucked into the game.
Not paying money for games I played 10 years ago and can download for free on my PC. Not changing discs (although this isn't actually that big of a deal).

4. Not wishing MGS4 would come out for the console I own.

5. Not missing out on a consoles features because I only had enough money to buy the starter model that didn't come with a hard drive.

6. PSN home, which is supposed to be out this year.

7. Having the option, although I don't need it, to play blu-ray

8. Having the option to integrate my electronic devices together, like transferring files back and forth from my pc with a crossover cable, and using my portable system.

9. Being able to browse the internet from my console when I'm too lazy to get off the couch.

Now I'm sure that in the 3 or 4 months since I've owned a 360 it has drastically changed and most of these issues are resolved. :D

edit
and hey by the way coolmac, this isn't meant as an attack on you man. I just really hated my 360. I mean REALLY hated the fucking thing. That and I actually love my ps3 a little bit more than I loved my genesis back in the day.

just one reason to buy a 360 http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/06/sexy-shooter-ot.html
I like the arcade stick, but I've got to admit I'm not that into shooters.

5. Not missing out on a consoles features because I only had enough money to buy the starter model that didn't come with a hard drive. "ok, I still can buy a hard drive and still come out cheaper"

6. PSN home, which is supposed to be out this year. "Should it matter since you have 'real' friends?"

9. Being able to browse the internet from my console when I'm too lazy to get off the couch. "OMG! the PS3 web browser is a joke. I rather use the the Wii browser anytime"

Now I'm sure that in the 3 or 4 months since I've owned a 360 it has drastically changed and most of these issues are resolved. :D

"calling me a douche and saying that I have sand in my pussy isn't attacking me?"

Well whatever. I edited it because after re-reading I sort of thought it was kind of harsh when I didn't mean it to be.
What the hell is wrong with the ps3 web browser? Honestly, name something. At least I made a list.
With the new firmware update the only thing I can think of that I can't do in it is download PC applications for obvious reasons.

I think people are comparing these latest gen consoles with the wrong points
all these extra features are all bullshit filler thats added to make a console the all in one box

network connections ok for system updates and backing up saves to pc other than that pointless unless its used for piracy
emulating old games whats the point how many times do you need them
web surfing wtf everyone owns a pc
online play get a life
media only a dumbass would wear their laser watching movies and playing tunes
HDD storage yeah backups and saves other than that pointless
The point im making is most arguments are either about pointless shit or how you can use your console as a crap media player that doesnt compare to dedicated hardware.

How they should be compared is how they perform for their native games aswell as cross platform titles and the quality of the ports

Here's an idea. Buy the system that most appeals to you for what you want most. Software. Everything else - online compatibility, system specs, media ability etc are all trivial if the games available to you on said system fail to entertain you. Everybodys tastes are different and what appeals to some may not appeal to you. You can ask for advice and opinions all day long but it will always come down to personal preference.

Ya Yooooooose!!

giggity giggity lets have sex.  One person was dominated totaly in here, the rest were not.  If "mind blowing" graphics and a soap operah quality story line matter to you, buy a ps3 or a 360, anyone looking for truely great games, stick to systems dreamcast and older, for the new systems wait til you can get them for 50 bucks or less and the games are all 5 dollars.  otherwise youl wind up dissapointed.

if you can be swayed to purchase a console based solely on one game(MGS 43, GT 910, FF 396, Halo 51, SF 8437823758432475893245743697435 ETC.)  dont buy a console at all, do us real gamers a favor please, and keep in mind whatever that game is you want so badly, a year or two after its released it will cost 20 dollars and there will be anywhere between one and three more sequils.
THANK YOU COME AGAIN!

It doesn't matter how lame the PS3's online service is in the US. It is ten times worse in Europe. The PlayStation Store is ridiculously barren and empty over here and they haven't even brought out Street Fighter II HD yet which forced me to purcase a US PSN gift voucher over ebay.

It also sucks not to be able to get an online version of Virtua Fighter 5.

Don't get me wrong, it's not as if I would go without having a PS3, but frankly I feel like I'm missing out until I get myself a 360.

Why would you buy a card? Doesn't everyone have a credit/debit card these days?
