Tenkaichi 3 sucks.  I hated it.
Tenkaichi 2, however....was pretty fucking sweet.  I had that shit down to a science.

Still jamming on GTAIV, but also had tha good fortune to pick up the complete setup for Mario Kart Wii.

Final verdict: meh.

See, there's something wrong with Nintendo these days.  I understand that they're trying to make games easier to pick up and play, but I think they're going a bit too far now.  You look at the original Super Mario Kart on SNES.  Fun times galore.  Amazing game, nearly flawless for its time.  Now, step up to Mario Kart 64 - and you see the holy grail of just about every fucking Nintendo game I've ever put my mitts on.  Move on to Double Dash!!, and it's not a step backwards per se, but it's definitely a step sideways into new, strange territory.  Now we have Mario Kart Wii (which even the title screams "LAZY").  And sadly, I'm not a fan.

Items are obnoxious and 300% more frequent than they need to be.  Winning takes pure luck and no skill at all, really.  And the worst part of all of it is the removal of the Mini-Turbo mechanism that's served me so well for YEARS, if not a goddamn decade.  No, I take that back, the worst part of it all is the broken Battle Mode.  That shit is retarded-squared.  Anyone who's looking for a new MK64, keep waiting.  I guess we'll get a good Mario Kart game on a console by 2012.

Thanks a lot, Nintendo.  You're turning one of your biggest fans against you for catering to the stupids rather than the core market that gave you life through the tough times.  Keep whoring yourselves out like this and nobody will want you.

Please elaborate, I have Mario Kart Wii and I have no problems using the miniturbo out of a powerslide.  Are you speaking of something else?

And what's so bad about the battle mode?  From what I've played of it I thought it was awesome.

I don't like being forced to hold a slide in order to attain redboost.  I liked the ability to go back and forth and get it to maximum within a second, it took practice, made you feel like you learned something valuable.

And what's so bad about the battle mode?  From what I've played of it I thought it was awesome.

The team-based gameplay gets to me.  Granted, I haven't played online, nor will I.  Gone are the days of "last man standing," 3-balloons-and-you're-out Battle Mode.  Trust me, I wanted to fucking weep.  I guess the joke was on me, expecting something more akin to MK64...but I guess every sweet memory, like everything else in life, has got to die sometime.

All in all, I thought I'd have more fun with it than I have.  I've been playing it off and on for over two weeks now, and I still feel like I wasted my money.  I don't think I'll purchase another first-party Nintendo game on blind faith for a very long time to come - because MK Wii has burned me to the core of my soul.  Maybe it's just me and I'm getting too old for this bullshit, but I expected more than what I got, which was a cheap-assed, inanely random version of the classic game I cherished.  It's like hearing the intro to a song that you used to jam out to back in the day just to find out that it's a shitty remix version made by some guy who thought that he did the original song a favor by taking a dump all over it.  But that's just one man's opinion.

In other news: GTAIV will eat your fucking soul alive.  And then eat it again after it shits it out.  And you will like it.

I've been hearing and reading a good amount of complaints with Mario Kart.  At least I don't have to worry about getting that, although I hear Boom Blox is a lot of fun.

Haven't played Mario Kart for the Wii, but they've released like 6 different versions over the past 15 years of the game ... it's like beating a dead horse. There is only so much you can do with a go-kart.

versions
SNES: This was great stuff
N64: This was greater stuff (n64 was seriously one of the best systems Nintendo has ever made)
GameCube: what the fuck ... this is a GAME?
GBA: This is classic, and I love it.
DS: This is alright, all it is is Mario Kart on a DS, golly gee whiz
Wii: I can only imagine this is just as poopy as the GameCube version. Maybe it's a lot of fun with a lot of people playing, that's how the Wii works.

In other news, I'm playing ... Halo 3 :)

At this point I'll agree that Mario Kart 64 was the best in the series.  Double Dash was alright, but not nearly as good.  Maybe it's just that:

"There is only so much you can do with a go-kart."

I'm bored of it.

Right now though, I'm on a Guild Wars kick.  It's all I've played in the last 3 weeks... sans Rock Band.

I have played with friends wee some more and am very underwhelmed still. I have no intention of buying one, it is just a 5 year old console with a gimmicky slow controller.

The new Mario Kart is ok if you play with the wheel on 50 or 100 cc, but after that it is purely a game of luck.  You almost have to use the classic, nunchuk or GC controllers on the higher levels.  Any racing game where its better to stay in 9th place until the final last 1/4 of a lap obviously needs some work.  I will concede that playing online is alot of fun and a little more balanced.

IMO Mario Kart 64 and DS are the best two.  GBA and SNES were good, but the 3D levels were so much more superior to the 2D plains.  The GC version was an obvious step in the wrong direction and Wii is even more so, but none of them suck.

I just beat Devil May Cry 4 on Devil Hunter mode ... and I am scared as hell to try Son of Sparda ... I don't feel the skills they let you buy are really all that effective. With Nero, sure you can do a back slash to knock them up, then jump up and attack them a few times, slam them back down. It's just really hard to really get up there (it's only happened a couple times on Devil Hunter that I'd get a triple Sick style).

It followed the same good ol pattern of fighting the same bosses over and over again, that's for sure. It was like beating a dead horse though. I will admit they did a terrific job with this game as far as graphics and sound, hell ... even the story was top notch like the rest in its series. For once I cared about the romance in the game. This might sound stupid but the last time I cared about a girl in a video game was FF7. I just really feel they could have come up with a better boss scheme instead of just copy and paste a boss here, let it be a bit tougher etc, piss video gamers off. The hardest boss for me was Dante after the 9th mission. I've never wanted to throw a controller so bad in my life, seriously. And the False Savior (the huge-ass stone thing) was a bitch but I got it on the 2nd try after repeatedly hitting the X button shooting the fuck out of him.

It was a really good game though. And MAYBE ... I'll try out Son of Sparda ... what's the difference?! When I was done with Devil Hunter, I really didn't think I was ready for what lay ahead ... :(
