Thinking of buying a genesis

Greeting guys.

It has been a while since i have posted on sega hub. But i recently and randomly thought that i should buy a sega genesis.

Now seeing as i live in india and its hard to come by original stuff by sega here.The only console that they offically launced was the dreamcast, which was quickly take off the shelves, and i have still to come across a working one back here.

So i saw some genesis model 2 being sold here with 350 or something inbuilt games.

Now i have no idea wtf these consoles are, and i am not sure if i should buy them.

You guys have any insights into this? What should i look for before buying a sega genesis?

imo you should look for a genesis model 1 "high definition graphics" only. its the best piece of genesis hardware. run a stereo cable from the headphone jack in the front and bump some serious tunes breh

The ones with built-in games are most likely not the original hardware.

The exception to this is if it was a real Genesis, and the "built-in games" was just a flash cart with games on it; however, what you found is probably not that.

I know it's probably heresy around here, but not many of the Genesis games stood the test of time.  There's always the Sonic series, Streets of Rage, Super Hang-On... but the original hardware might be an expensive proposition for only a handful of great games.

If I were you, I would save my money and keep looking for a Dreamcast.

P.S.: I love the Genesis model 3 controller.  That raised D-pad is killer.
