Utopia Boot disc help please.......
« on: April 15, 2009, 06:46:06 PM »

hi

yesterday i bought a used dreamcast from my friend

i have some games which are not selfbootable (i think)

because they didn't work and they don't have scratches and there us some game saves for them on the vmu

he didn't gave me a boot disc so i downloaded alot of versions of utopia boot disc (1.1 / 1.2 / 1.5) when i boot them they say insert backup cd i put the backup cd but it doesn't work i waited more than 5 minutes.

and i checked more than one game.

what do you think is the problem?

by the way the dreamcast booted the selfbootable games + original gd-roms

hope i find some help.

sorry for my english.

what games exactly do you think you need to use the bootdisc for and were they original rars or some image you downloaded?

It is possible that he has a model 3 dreamcast. They can still play burned games but the image file must be Data/Data, most dreamcast games on the internet come in Audio/Data format which wont work on a model 3. Data/Data games have been on this site before, there are some previous members who had the same problem (Solidmetal I think...). Hope that helps.
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like you might just have a bad image file.

they are not mine i bought them with the dreamcast when i loaded them they didnt work then i saw their game save in the vmu (he must have played them then) so i thought that they should be nonselfbootable

so i used the bootloaders none of them seems to work at all even when i use a ready selfbootable game with them.

i dont know if their is a way to know they are selfbootable or not through the computer?
i will search probably tomorrow.

Still in touch with him? If so best bet is to ask him...

I think this always happens...

I think that if it is a mixed session disk (audio and data) and track 1 is audio then it is normally self bootable? I think from memory, may be wrong though.

Why not just try downloading and burning some other games?
