I have to make sure I find my Vista restore disks first, I think I'll try it tomorrow.  I'll let you all know!

I'm using it right now, so far it's great! Unfortunately the new taskbar isn't in this version. Explorer is greatly improved and much better organized and system feels more snappy in general.  The explorer automatically adjusts headings depending on the content of the folders.  Also, the bubble notifications are much less annoying, you view them once and it won't keep reminding you of the same thing.  Also, it automatically detects the max resolution of the display, which is nice.  Windows Backup is a nice addition as well.  Networking is very nicely done, it makes network sharing a breeze, there's no questioning whether network sharing is working or not like in XP.  My wireless card worked with drivers as did my sound.  Unless something crazy comes up, I'm using this as my primary OS.

EDIT: The library feature is cool, you can add folders to my music and my videos.   So instead of having a "my music" or "my videos" that you never use, you can link other folders on different hard drives to the system's video folder.

sounds cool! i'll have to give it a go later this week! so I'm guessing it's more like Vista, just a lot better?

I wonder how much it'll be worth when it comes out. DK did you download the one SolidMetal put up or somewhere else?

Does it have the annoying popup for when you install something, or does it go right into it?

Do you think this OS would work on a 512 ram pc ok, or what ... how much ram does it take up when you first have it start up?

Yeah, I downloaded the one that Solid posted.  If the popup you're talking about is the UAC popups, then you can disable them just like in Vista.  I don't think this version would run on 512mb of RAM, it's the Ultimate version.

I'm still waiting for a charger for my compaq, so I gotta wait it out a few days, but it'll be great to try out! It downloaded really fast! Imagine what'll happen when the official comes out.

Weirdly enough, it's still working fine :D.  Incredibly stable for an alpha OS.  I figured out how to enable a lot of the features, just download the blue badge patch.

Works great!

EDIT: Darn, finally found the dealbreaker for this alpha version.  My firewire hard drive won't mount itself.  Oh well, back to Vista.  I'll wait a few months and try W7 again :D.

Windows 7 is okay. That's all I feel like saying about it.

When it comes down to it, I just want to do the internet, check my email, IRC/aim, and THAT IS ABOUT IT! :D
