eh just seems like a bunch of useless aesthetic stuff.

Yep.  Looks like Vista.

Oh wow, so they have icons instead of the names of the programs?  How useful...  ::)

I don't think you guys bothered reading.

Yes, it is.  Saves space that way and makes it easier to identify programs.  When you have more than one instance open, you mouse over and small screenshots of each instance pop up.  You can also control the application from that icon.  When you mouse over an application it turns all the others windows transparent so you can see what's in it.

The gadgets are now free from the sidebar.  It supports multitouch.  It runs faster, boots fast and is more resource efficient than vista.  New media center. Much better system search. UAC is customizable to be less or annoying or completely turned off.  Networking is now much easier.  Star menu now has a frequently used folder category.  Does not come bundled with photo editing, movie editing or mail software by default, you can download them for free.  Homegroups is introduced, it allows you to share media very easily between computers just like it was on one computer.  It can stream media to devices.  The photo application supports people taggin (finally).  Paint is completely redesigned and is actually usable.

Really?  Useless aesthetic changes?

Don't hate it just because Vista wasn't all that great for some of you geeks ... this one seems to be a lot more customizable so I could tweak it exactly how I want it to be. I look forward to it!

What about when I'm doing schoolwork, and I'm shifting between 10 open Word documents at once?

Do I have to mouseover each one instead of being told outright what the filename is?
No, they're all grouped into one.  You mouseover the icon and all ten will pop up with filenames and screenshots directly above the icon and you click which one you want.

When you have 10 word documents open in XP or Vista, doesn't it group them together and then you have to click the group and then click which one you want?  This is more efficient and space saving.

But it seems as theyre steering twards the MAC interface.
How so? Most of the new features aren't in OS X at all and if you're referring to the taskbar, OSes have had that since the early 90s.

Just looks like it needs all the gloss turned off and uneeded filler removed like any MS OS The thing that bugs me most when a new OS arrives is lack of drivers

I love how people talk about windows 7 being made to make up for how terrible vista was, even though vista isnt terible and its been known since before vista was released that msoft was going to make another OS a couple years later.
My computer has 1 gig of ram, runs vista great, it boots AS fast as my tiny XP, and doesnt freeze or give me bsod like either Tiny XP or XP Media Center.  I cant help but think that most people who dont like vista never used it. that or they were using home 32 bit edition
get ultimate 64 vista, its the best.

If apple wouldn't of run that TV smear campain, vista would of been alot better received. Sure it uses alot of resources... but you know what windows 2000 used more than 98 and xp used more than both.

At my school unfortunatly I have to take a psychology class (which is byfar the biggest waste of 2 hours 40 a week ever) and its full of people who dont know anything about computers (mostly mac users) and tones of them hate vista. I asked some of them specifically what they hated and almost every one I asked couldnt think of anything and the ones that could think of something said it looked like an os10 knock off or it can get the blue screen of death. I lator found that none of them had even tried it, and none of them have ever saw the blue screen of death either.

None of them managed to mentions vistas flaws or former flaws. ie. resource consumption and compatibility issues with some older software.

I simply hated vista too much gloss for my liking I tried ultimate 64 vista and to be honest it was full of shit filler and was just plain annoying.  the only reason i moved to XP was because 98 couldnt keep up and ME was a sack of shit Vista could have been the next XP if given enough time i remember when XP was performing as bad as vista infact it knocked my pc back into the stoneage with lack of driver support even on xp i have all visuals turned off and all MS seem to do is add more shit i need to switch off or remove

lol, the funny thing is that apple just about completely dropped os 9 backwards compatibility with os x.  Virtualization is a joke.

Windows Vista has never froze on me.  Not once.  However, my friends Mac has froze once.  So there :D.

I dont like vista or windows 7 because i like my good old XP

They are adding in all this shit that i find hard to tweak and disable.
They made it WAY to USER FRIENDLY for my tastes.

Yeah I think i'll stick with XP. I don't want or need these fancy new options. XP uses way less system resources than vista let alone what win7 will need. Just my opinion though  ;)

the fancy new options like.... making everything easier to do? yes it adds visual beauty but its not apple, its actualy far more functional.  Ive been using computers and apples alike since I was a kid and computers have always been better. Msoft has gotten progressively better with every release, the only real backstep being ME, where apple has done allot of nothing with every release, you want to play games on an apple, get crossover and prey cause aint shit else gonna make it work right.  want to pretend apple works better with video programs/gfx.. windows is at the very least an absolute equal to apple.  Ive even seen people go as far as to say windows boots slower than apple. I guess that depends on certain things. it takes less than a minute for me to boot vista ultimate 64X including me putting the password in to login  yeah its a bit longer than leopard takes but Im running on a dual 2.1 gig processor with 1 gig of ram.  whats that time gonna look like on a quad 2.7 gig with 8 gigs of ram, quite certainly less than that. there is no argument for apple. and were getting to the point where there realy is no argument for XP over vista either.  Vista is the rare case where even when you take into account it looking better, it actualy works better. and I agree totaly that if it werent for apples bullshit smear ads that vista would be as big now as XP ever was.  trendy apple sheep says what?
