fallout 2 is a turn based RPG not real time strategy, not in any way whatsoever and its one of the most amazing games ever made. 3 is oblivion with guns, a good non turn based rpg that couldnt hold a candle to fallout 2 and its not in any way a FPS.

Fallout 3 doesn't pay enough homage to the original games, there isn't nearly enough dark humor.

I am really not liking Fallout 3, I am trying, but something is not clicking.I am actually replaying 1&2, and it's really terrible how different the games play.

I played Oblivion and loved it. Bethesda probably didn't really know what they were getting themselves into with this game considering it's the third in the series. But they probably thought that since Oblivion did so well, Fallout 3 would do just as well under Oblivion's schemed pattern.

I still haven't played it but maybe I'll give it a shot in a week or so. I dunno. It really doesn't seem to be as bad as any of you nay sayers say ... ;)

Fallout 3 is absolutely awesome.

Idk what you are all complaining about.  I must've put 24 hours into that game in the last 3 days.

They don't want you to become some superhuman.  You still gotta worry about the enemies at lvl 20, ;).

thats not how I'd have done it. 'cos the game is totally dead to me now lol 'td make more sense if they cut the skillpoints in half per additional 5 levels, increased the skill max to 300 or so, and hand out perks once ever 3 or 4 levels.

I guess they want you up the replay value, since you can't get all the perks in one game.

It'll also give you a chance to go through and make different choices.

I dunno, you spend a lot of the game just discovering the world around you. I'd never want to do that twice :<

there's a level cap???

=(

the only thing fallout 3 is missing is a lot of the humor.  it feels like fallout in 3d for the most part.  the level cap is a total bummer though.

I'm VERY POSITIVE they'll let you reach up and beyond the level cap for a 1200 point marketplace download ... let's you cap to level 40, and gives you another mission that is about 10 minutes worth ... ::)

There are mods to eliminate the level cap now (not for you 360 users tho).

Ok I beat Fallout 3, and all I'd like to say is ... Oblivion was much better. The story just doesn't really grab me as much as Oblivion did. I'm only comparing these two because Bethesda did Oblivion. They are both different games, but at the same time they're both FPS, and a lot of things you do in Oblivion will be VERY familiar and similar to that of Fallout 3, at least the feel of how things are done. Leveling up is rewarding, and the VATS system is sweet cuz I can watch heads get blasted off in slow time. And sure there's the lvl 20 cap, but once I beat the game, I had no desire to go do any other quests unlike in Oblivion. Honestly I'm just tired of doing things for people. The good part about it all was that in 75% of the quests, I had a choice whether or not to do a quest, and I could just plow right through the sub-quest by killing the person asking me to do their shit for them. After that, I never looked back.

And no you can't kill kids. I learned that earlier tonight ... :(

i'm with Jem on this one, Fallout 3 rocks, and yes it is very similar to Oblivion (and that is not a bad thing if u ask me), but it is also VERY different.

there that sounds more accurate to me.  You have an odd perception of FPS.
