Strangedogs is in da house!
« on: October 13, 2008, 02:28:24 AM »
Nice to find ya'll!  My new/used DREAMCAST is on the way (Ebay buy).  I'm stoked too.  Been an ATARI nut for years (Have a 5200 and a 7800 too) and figured it was time for a change  ;)   I'm hoping to burn a few - on a Mac G5 (PPC - not Intel) running 10.5 and hopefully I can figure it all out...  I do have a couple PC's collecting dust in the spare bedroom but I'm wanting to do it on my Mac - any Mac users out there - any pointers for burning these games?
There's nothing sweeter than a vintage tube amp and nothing finer than an old dude pushin' it hard.

Burning DC games on a mac is definitely worth looking up (scribbles it on to do list)

How did you find our chip of the net?

Congrats on your purchasing a dreamcast, and welcome to the hub :D

I think I've only met one or two people that have successfully burned a Dreamcast game on Mac, it's not common knowledge and is very messy.  From one person I heard it's quicker to have Windows on the Mac and reboot into it when you want to burn something.

Welcome to Segahub!

Hello and dust off your PC's. For the best emulation/creation experience you absolutely must use a PC. Be glad that even if those PC's are a little old they should work great for burning Dreamcast games. Also in order to test burns you will need a PC running NullDC or Makaron.  :D

k - thanx... my G5 is 1st gen so it's not Intel...  will experiment and if need be fire up the PC's (grrrrr)   8)

EDIT:  Allrighty then - just downloaded (and read about) NullDC & Makaron - appears they're emulators (for testing - as per HiroProbot).  This outta be interesting!  Been "hackin" since the beginning (80's) so I LOVE A NEW CHALLENGE!  Will try to figure out a way to burn from OS X too - I have lotsa different burner apps and I'm smarter than I look (thank Gawd)  ;)  Now I'm waiting on my Dreamcast!

Hey you are totally welcome to become the resident "mac expert" for Dreamcast here.  :) In fact it would add a nice dimension to the whole forum.  ;)
