do you have to burn those little proprietary disc or is there a way to load the games off a memory card?
They're not proprietary, they're standard MiniDVDs.  But yes, there is a way to load GC games off of an SD card.

:O heres an idea go buy a console from gamestop, 30 bucks, then go online buy the chip 5 bucks. Your saying like 20 bucks from buying directly from nights lol. installing is not hard people HAVE PATIENCE.

its not just patients. some people just don't want to eff anything up, I solder for fun but I'd still pay for a premodded one with the pot adjusted well

The chip is $10, you have to buy a soldering iron ($10), solder (<$5), multimeter ($15) and gamebit screwdriver (>$5)  and then you have to learn how to solder.
