Google Chrome

Google's new browser launched today and holy crap is it fast.  Very simple UI and it uses very little memory.  Definitely my new default browser.  I can do without it, but it'd be nice to have adblock plus, hopefully that'll come along soon.

Solid, wtf are you talking about? Firefox doesn't use much at all, much less than Opera even.

http://avencius.nl/content/firefox-3-vs-opera-950-memory-usage

Anyway, Google Chrome is more efficient than both, especially the more tabs you have open.

Way it's better than Firefox (or any browser for that matter):
  • Uses less memory and has better memory management(plugins/tabs are seperate processes, so, for example, if flash player crashes, your browser stays open)
  • Quicker in both UI and web pages
  • Spell check is much better than FF
  • Simple UI
  • Location bar is more useful
  • Speed dial feature is really cool
  • Locks malware inside the browser, if it manages to run itself, once the browser is closed, the malware is too
Ways Firefox is better (for now)
  • More extensions
  • More customizable
  • Served as a model for a lot of features in Chrome

This is so freakin sweet! I love this! I love Google. Thank god for programmers! I started it up, it automatically configured all my bookmarks from firefox and I didn't have to say shit. Everything loads up quick, I love it!

Deleting firefox ... now :D

Straight into segahub, login, general chat, this thread.

In it's defense, it loaded the pages very quickly. If they implement block content/ adblock  and javascript I will give it a proper go.

it's alright. They still need to fix a few bugs with like text on pages because sometimes its smaller then it normally is.  Also like check boxes, for example when you log in on segahub you see the Automatically log in every time box well you can't see the box or if its checked or not so thats lame.

and yeahh

firefox 34,704 k memory usage AND GOING UP

chrome 22,520 k memory usage and it loads youtube videos even faster with better quality, if you ask me that is.

That's the genius of it, if you have one website that crashes, each tab has its own process so only that tab will crash.

Elite, Chrome uses more memory upfront because it splits the process, but over time it free up memory much more effeciently because of the separate process system.

Got Chrome running on a win virtualbox on Ubuntu.

Damn I like!!! It's so sleek and elegant. And it gives you so much room to browse!
That's the biggest thing I hate about browsers is they've got the huge toolbars taking up all the room.

Can't wait till I get a native version!

I like google chrome.. but even they said that they release everything way to early... so we are basically beta testing it. I really like how simple it is, on the other hand I've had nothing but problems (especially on facebook), and a lot of java problems as well. I'm sure though, that google has gotten an assload of feedback and is working like crazy to fix what errors were reported

Dude, even in beta it's doing a lot better than most finalized browsers ... so suck it!

in a way, will, but you can make a crazy fast browser that doesn't give two damns about security, and you'd never know how open for attack you are.

I'm pretty sure google isn't that dumb, but speed doesn't mean reliability.

I've got both running ATM, and I'm keeping firefox for chatzilla :P

although I love chatzilla, I'm loving chrome. Now all google has to do is make an OS and an anti virus. But if google designed an OS it would probably be bullet proof so there would be no need for an AV.
