For your chip and just use mini dvds, they are better for the motor and it can't possibly ever end up being worth it price wise; mini DVDs aren't that expensive.

assuming you can even find any, only ones ive ever seen were at a costco i think, and they were pretty pricey compared to dvds.

i could pick up a pack of 75 dvds for the price they wanted for, 10 maybe of the minis

I doubt those DVDs would work on the GameCube, it's very picky about what it will accept.

And they're not that expensive anyways, maybe double the price.  A case would be about $30.  So you'd have to burn more than 100 dvds to make the purchase worthwhile.
Minis:

Normal for a comparison:

the price structure at that site that sells mini dvds doesn't make any sense.  its cheaper to buy 3 20 packs than 1 50 pack.  just saying.

how hard is it to mod a cube?  i've never modded anything and have done very little soldering in my life.

apparently this thing doesn't require any soldering.  but still, how hard is it to get this shit working?

It does require you to solder, it's just wire free.  You solder it directly to the board.  It's not hard to get it working, but you have to tweak the laser once in a while to keep it working.

Easy. Duh. I looked at the wire free ones and thought they looked much more difficult. In the future I will also avoid using your mum in civiliSed company.
