Muse is like sci-fi rock the likes of which I haven't heard since I first started listening to Rush.
A somewhat underground band called the Toadies. maybe you've heard them, if you haven't I highly recommend checking them out.
"Possum Kingdom" used to be awesome until everyone played the fucking song out 48 times over. I hate that song now, and I always thought "Away" was a better showcase of their musical taste anyway.
Yeah sonic youth is great. Everr listen to the Pixies?
Both are bands well worth listening to.
I got an IPod Touch for my birthday and have been using it for everything. The stuff I listen to the most changes daily, but groups that are constantly in rotation are:
Beastie Boys (every album)
The Chemical Brothers (every album)
Daft Punk (every album)
Del The Funkee Homosapien (especially the Deltron 3030 album, but yes, I have every album)
311 (starting to notice the trend? - every album)
Beck (again, every album)
Zebrahead (every album)
Bomb Factory (every album)
But most of all, I always run back to Daft Punk. I don't know why.
