.nfo files?

.nfo files. Can someone explain to me what they are/what they do?

Have a look for yourself. :)

Right click one, go to Open With... and choose wordpad. Also tick the "always open with this program" box. :)

I personally think it was a dumb decision to make nfo files have that extension, why not choose something that already isn't taken?  It makes things so much less confusing.

Well I think it was used ages and ages ago, before windows added their system information to .NFO. (I have what I think is an at-the-time release of lemmings with an NFO).
