I've been thinking about going for a psp now, not for commercial game use but rather for emulation uses only. From what I've heard, the next release of the n64 emulator will more or less be at a solid 25+fps with sound, they've nailed ps1 perfectly, neogeo (cd & mvs) are pretty much 100%, and genesis, snes, nes, sms, and practically every other retro system are pretty much playable (minus afew like saturn and virtual boy), so I was origionally just going to pick up this used psp for about 120$, not a bad deal eh? but I was reading about this psp slim that came out, it isnt compatible with all the emulator that the origional psp (people are working on that), but it features double the ram (64mb) which is very appealing from a homebrew prospective.
So at this point I'm all for the psp slim, but I then learn if more difficult to mod with custom frimware, apparently you need to do this pandora's battery stuff and inorder to do that you can either
a) ruin the normal function of you battery in some sort of sacrofice in the name of homebrew
or
b) find a buddy with an origional psp who willing to lend a hand with his battery, which wouldnt loose its functionality. (unfortunatly I dont know anyone with a hacked psp)
So what are you guys views on this, has anyone here done this with a psp slim?
