"Mexican Flyer" by Ken Woodman & His Piccadilly Brass.

It's the original song that the entire soundtrack for Space Channel 5 revolved around.  It's a sick tune, very old-school while still being pretty edgy, especially when you compare the song to what today's music sounds like.

i would love to see the roots.  i saw rahzel (the beat box fellow, fyi) and mike patton (faith no more and a million other bands) perform together and philly a few years ago and it was pretty rad.

i'm listening to this song called lioness by a band called songs ohla that girl put on a mix cd for me  for my birfday.  its amazing.  in fact, the whole cd is pretty rad.

i'm reading this book called our band could be your life: scenes from the american indie underground from 1981-1991 that is basically a collection of essays about the history of 13 bands from that time period, so i've been checking out some of the bands that i'm not all that familiar with so that i know something about them while i'm reading about that.  that was a long sentence.

so anyway, i'm listening to big black, and while they considered themselves a punk band, this is very much the precursor to something like nine inch nails.  if you're into that sort of business (i'm not, really), i would recommend it.

I can definitely see how NIN (mainly Broken-era) could be influenced from Big Black.  I actually kind of like this.  Very ahead of its time.
