Is Nintendo readying a new Wii Remote?

This promo for the game FlingSmash features what it calls the Wii Remote Plus.

Rumors are swirling that Nintendo could soon announce a new Wii Remote that combines the functionality of the current controller with the Wii MotionPlus add-on.

Speculation about a new Wii Remote started when game retailer GameStop displayed box art for a soon-to-be-released game, FlingSmash. The title, which combines aspects of tennis and pinball to help gamers "save the day" on Suthon Island, is being developed and published by Nintendo of America. It's expected to hit store shelves in November.

According to a description of the game, the title uses the "Wii Remote controller with the Wii MotionPlus accessory." But its box art shows a black Wii Remote, and a banner towards the bottom saying, "Wii Remote Plus inside!" as a bonus offering with the game.

Exactly what the Wii Remote Plus could be is anyone's guess. It's possible that the controller integrates the functionality of the Wii MotionPlus into the Wii Remote. However, it's also possible that GameStop's box art is a misprint.

A controller that would integrate the Wii MotionPlus' accuracy does make sense. And it would likely appeal to consumers who would prefer to have a single unit, rather than be forced to attach an accessory to their Wii Remote.

At this point, only Nintendo knows what may actually be coming. And the company isn't talking--it did not immediately respond to request for comment.

I have to add to this, I can't play wii, or hold a wii remote ever again. A friend of mine calls it a "wand" and it sounds SO gay that I just can't do it. I'm not a homophobe, I have gay friends, but damn.. calling the thing a wand just brings to mind images of fairy dust and tutu's.

I wouldn't mind trying the move controls in Heavy Rain, that was a great game. But I don't want to spend 90 bucks on something I'd probably only try out and never use again.

I think it's only compatible with certain games. Heavy Rain was a beautiful interactive b movie. there was no gaming to experience.

Did you beat it yet? I think I only got half the trophies too but I beat it twice.

After I beat it I decided to see if anything different happened depending on how you play. I wont spoil it for you if you don't know.

Yeah there's a lot of different variables, I kept pressing the home button and exiting the game before it auto saved when I did something I didn't like. That worked most of the time.
