What happened to my Dreamcast?
« on: July 13, 2009, 08:47:51 PM »
Hey i recently found out about this site 3 days ago and those first two days i was downloading everything to my hearts content and playing it all. I'm at day 3 now and for some reason a lot of games that used to work now freeze at the beginning or close to it and my dc seems to be making load noises. Does anyone know what the problem is?

this video will show you how to adjust the laser, which may fix it:

i've had to adjust a few dreamcasts using this method and i've always fixed disc reading problems eventually, but sometimes it takes quite a while.

I would try cleaning it first, just try using a cotton bud to clean the lens.

"GD-ROM (an abbreviation of "giga disk read-only memory") is the proprietary optical disc format used by the Sega Dreamcast".

gd-roms are dreamcast games you would have to buy. if it won't read an official DC game you'll probably have to adjust the laser, if it will read the gd-roms, but not cd-r discs it could be a burn problem.

It's always better to burn at a slower speed. :)
