Wait, so he just completely took down the site? Not just to public access?  That's lame, he should have at least had a few days for you guys to back up all your stuff.

Well that was something he was never given the privilege of when UG was shut down by me the first time :( ipb forums didn't give him a day or two to make backup's and all that.

Yes, get on with your life, Funk.

<- Kevlar

It wasn't meant to be a kind, gentle shutdown. It was meant to discourage you all from wasting your lives on the internet. There's plenty of life out there, if we'd unplug from our PCs/TVs/iPods/PSPs long enough to see it.

Plus, I don't know if you've been paying attention or not (with all the distractions and all) but we're on the brink of economic collapse/martial law/World War III, so I'd enjoy life while you can.

The EU treaty was rejected in many countries and has been all but buried and the power doesn't lie with the UK anymore.

A bigger threat is Russia descending into insanity. I stopped watching after about 3 minutes. That must be a very old vid too.

That says a lot about your attention span.

Quote
On 1 January 2007, Romania and Bulgaria became the EU's newest members and Slovenia adopted the euro.[16] In December of that year European leaders signed the Lisbon Treaty which was intended to replace the earlier, failed European Constitution, which never came into force after being rejected by French and Dutch voters. However, uncertainty clouds the prospects of the latter treaty's coming into force as result of its rejection by Irish voters in June 2008.

Georgia just attacked Russia with the help of the US. Any which way about it, some serious shit is about to happen, and you better get ready.

Hey, speak for yourself.  Just because you were wasting your life on a forum doesn't mean that everyone else is.  I spend less than a half an hour on Segahub a day and haven't watched TV since the day I got my wisdom teeth pulled.  And all this time I've spent "wasting on the internet" I'm about to be making a living with the stuff I've learned.

I stopped watching after 5 seconds. And I wanted to shoot myself.
You're too up tight. I applaud your desire to put more time into "real" life, but please understand that most people do not in fact feel that way.

I'd be willing to bet part of that is because "real" life sucks.
Of course on the flip side, you could argue that it does indeed suck because people are too busy doing other things and have let the worlds state of affairs slip this far down.
Either way,

I feel bad that people put stock in your site and you dropped it all without warning.
Even if you're motivation was as you say it is, I'd still question why you'd get the inclination and immediately kill the site.

One more thing, people invested time into your site and this is how you thank them?
