Softmodding an Xbox?
« on: July 05, 2008, 07:26:32 PM »
I know that there are places out there to get tutorials for this, but I figured I'd come to here to ask.

Can anyone post a detail tutorial of what i need(software and hardware wise) and how to softmod and xbox.  No harddrive switching or anything, just softmodding it with the 360 looking dashboard(not sure of what it's called). Want to learn how so I can do a couple for my friends b4 Xmas.  Before you ask, these are friends who aren't into the "next gen of gaming" one has an Xbox and one has a PS2.  I got games and the Big Ass emu discs, I just need to learn to SM.

Thanks in advance :)

It's pretty straightforward. Warmasters right, I've softmodded quite a few of my friends xbox's since doing my own.

why don't they want a nextgen system but want the look of one? Personally I think thats alittle stupid. But its whatever I know from experience that alot of people can't afford 360s, or they just don't want one since you never know in a year they could release the NEXT BIG THING :O

I got bored with my 360 already and sold it. As soon as metal gear solid 4 came out I was like "son of a bitch!"
:D
I probably won't regret selling it till resident evil 5 comes out next year. But then, I'm no fan of first person shooters either.

It'd be nice if MGS4 came out for 360

That tut was rather long...I thought there was an easier way now.  Just have the exploit(and other software) on your memory card and boot it up through one of a couple games(I hear Splinter Cell, and one of the 007 games work) do a couple button presses and boom, soft modded box.....guess I was wrong lol :)

It's really not that bad once you get going on it.
Burn the CD,
run the CD,
Hook your PC ribbon to the xbox HD,
finish running the CD,
done.

You must be joking dude, theres so many reasons why that probably won't happen. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but damn near.
I've heard MGS4 is right around 50 gigs, so theres a 5 disc 360 game right off the bat. I really doubt it's going to happen.

how do you know?
it being said a thousand times not enough?

not to mention the last....6 or so MG games were exclusive to a single system, counting MGS3S and the expansion to portable ops.

I have been softmoding xboxes for quiet some time. Its extremly easy. So is the hd upgrade. Aslong as you backup your eeprom you're fine. I learned everything from www.smdepot.net
