[DC] Selfboot Tool for Dreamcast Games, BIN/CUE -> CDI
« on: July 17, 2007, 04:01:14 AM »
This is the newest version of Bin2Boot with CDDA support.  I added a batch file
to make it completely easy.

1. Extract this to the same folder as the bin/cue Dreamcast image.
2. Double click on SELFBOOT.BAT and wait for it to finish the conversion.
3. Burn the CDI image that it makes with Alcohol-120%.

SELFBOOT.rar, (47 KB)

Try an 80 minute disk if you are using a 74 minute one, or a 90 min disk if you are already using an 80 min disk.

It sounds to me like by making your image self booting you have made it substantially larger and so it will need a larger blank disk.

Sonic adventure had already been downsized to fit to a 80min 700mb cd-r. When you selfboot it the image will become too big for a 80min cd-r

Under WinXP I receive an error: "bin2boot_cdda.exe cannot be executed" (from the command prompt). Does this tool require any DLLs or a specific OS? Thanks!

This is a great idea adding a batch file.. Why somebody didn't do that sooner I'll never know. Anyhow this is really the nicest little easiest self booting utility you will ever need people so get it and say thank you.  :P

For Linux users: I have not found a Linux version of bin2boot. But you can run it with dosbox,. The handling is quite simple:

- install dosbox
- create a folder and put bin2boot executable and dreamcast cd image in it
- download CWSDPMI.EXE and put excutable in the same folder as bin2boot
- open a terminal, go in the bin2boot folder and launch:
Code: [Select]
$ dosbox .the point launch dosbox with current folder mounted as drive c:
- then use the bin2boot excutable as usual

hope this help a pingouin around here ;-)
