By the way, CCS release is the PAL version, not NTSC-U.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape *Repack* (NTSC-U)
--------------------------------------------
Ripped: Webbrowser; Italian and German opening audio track (read more below).
Downsampled: All audio 22khz stereo -> 22khz mono.
Source: GD dump.

=== ATTENTION: ===
You need to execute the "unpack.exe" before burning, it will unpack the .ecm file and create your
.cdi image.

If you need to apply any patch, do it in the unpacked .cdi file, not in the .ecm file.
==================

Here I am repacking this incredible game.

Instead of describing the whole process here, I'm gonna ask you to read the old release readme
first (end of this document) and I'll only describe the differences between the old release and
this repack.

First, overburn is not necessary anymore. I was able to make extra space mono-ing ADPCM tracks I
missed before. Although there are only about five of them, and they're really hard to decode, I
had to work on them because in this game every single megabyte counts. I wrote my own tools for
that, and I'll share them in blog once I have time. Hum, I also made improvements in my DCZ
packer, and I'll share in my blog as well.

Some additional space could be obtained by re-linking redundant files.

Because of all space I made, I also could maintain most of multi-language. There are five
languages: English, Italian, Spanish, German and French. These languages are selected depending on
the one you set in BIOS. Texts of all languages are there. The opening scene is dubbed, but
because of space, Italian and German audio had to be ripped and re-linked to English ones. It
means that everything will work in every language, except that if you select German or Italian
you'll hear the opening in English. Not a big deal, right? Additionally, in the "Extra" folder of
the pack you can listen to the ripped audio.

Why did I chose German and Italian to rip? Well, Italian was chosen because it's the less spoken
language of the five. Then had to choose between German and French, but as U***oft is French, I
decided to maintain the original audio.

File order has changed for better, although I can't make miracles.

PAL users, when unpacking the image you'll have the option to patch the game so it will work in
60hz on your consoles.

That's all, enjoy another epic release from DCRES.

Features of my release:
- 22khz audio.
- Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump files.
- Used custom DCRES optimization techniques. It means faster loadings and less Dreamcast reader
noise.
- Selfboot.

About the game:
- It has VGA Box support.

Other comments:
- "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff. It also contains ripped audio.
- Release comes with covers.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape (NTSC-U)
-----------------------------------
Ripped: Internet feature; multi-language.
Downsampled: All sounds I could found were monoized.
Source: GD dump.

=== ATTENTION: ===
This release is for standard 80min CD-R but it needs around 10mb overburn (~1.5%). I tested burning
this in two different brands of CD-R and in one CD-RW. Burning ended without errors and all data
could be read with success in my PC DVD drive. Both CD-R booted and worked alright in my Dreamcast.
The boot binary is in the "critical" zone (overburnt), so if your game boots nice it won't present
any errors after since other files are in the "safe" zone.

So, for burning, be sure to use a nice brand 80min CD-R. Getting a bigger CD is not necessary. Burn
in a good speed (4x, 8x or 16x) and I doubt you'll have any problem.

To burn this with DiscJuggler, you have to go in the "Advanced Tab" and mark "Overburn CD", else it
will say media is too small and it will cancel recording. If you're using Alcohol 120%, you'll have
to figure out how to record by yourself.
==================

Ok, you can ask, go ahead. Why the hell I made a overburn release of this game if there is a CCS
release that fits on a 650mb CD-R? Well, the answer is simple. Music in this game is 22khz stereo.
For some reason, developers used music in WAV format instead of a compacted format, that's why the
original game is so big. In their release, CCS reduced quality of songs to 11khz mono, that's why
their release got so small. No offense, they did a wonderful job figuring out pack format (read
below), but music quality got really crap. My release has 22khz mono (much better), but of course
there are some cons. Even deleting useless LOG files (that gave me around 10mb), game was still too
big. Then I had to delete multi-language stuff and web browser. Even with that, space was too short,
that's the reason it needed some overburn. That's the worse con. But believe me, music quality pays
the effort, it's pratically the same of the original.

Note that multi-language was removed, and game knows what language to use looking at BIOS
configuration. So let your BIOS in English or impredictable results will happen.

I never had so much trouble on a release, it cost me the whole day. Music are packaged in a
strange DCZ format, that I've never seen before. Fortunately, I found a set of tools to uncompress
and compress them back. Uncompressing was alright, then I converted the music and compressed back.
When I went testing, music was not playing. After a lot of time I really found out the reason: the
utility I was using to pack the DCZ was not working correctly. So what to do now? Can you guess?
Yeah, figure out the DCZ format by myself and pack them back. After some hours, I finally
understood the format (the cool part (<- sarcasm) is that there was no data about it on internet),
and could figure out how to pack my music back properly. After some (more) hours, I finished
programming my utility to pack DCZ, and I could finish the release.

I haven't tested the whole game, but I played it a couple hours and I'm pretty sure I made a good
job and it's working correctly until the end.

I also customized file order because GD file order was not optimized, so except a better reading
performance.

Thanks to mr. ramencup for making his DCZ tools. Although packer didn't worked correctly, the
unpacker was vital to the success of this project. Thanks go to CCS too, because of their release I
could know that downsampling the music this way would really work, and that saved a lot of time.

And last thing, although it's the american version (CCS's release was the european one), it works
fine on PAL consoles.

Enjoy this great game with the DCRES quality you already know.

Features of my release:
- Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump files.
- American version.
- Music with better quality than CCS release.
- Used custom file order. It means faster loadings and less Dreamcast reader noise.
- Selfboot.

About the game:
- It has VGA Box support.

Other comments:
- "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff.
- Release comes with covers.

DCRES release repacked today.

Main differences: no overburn necessary and multi-language included.
