I beat MGS4 the other day and deem it to have no replay value, so I'm going to return it for store credit.
I don't know what's a good play anymore, I like Assassins Creed, Oblivion, GTA, stuff like that. Anyone playing anything lately that just rocks your socks off?
Just anything open world, where I don't have to stick to some main plot.

Saints Row 2 is great, but I beat it in 3-4 days ... straight. ;D
It's a great game though. Each open sandbox game just keeps getting better. You can play online co-op with your friends via Live, and that's where I think this game really shines, broski!
I'm playin Fable 2 and I definitely recommend it as a WoW alternative.

Is Fable 2 really that much better than the original? I never really cared for it, actually got bored after a couple of hours. I think Fallout 3 may be right up my alley.
Saints row 2 looks pretty cool, but oh so gta-like.

Judging by your direction Sir, I don't think you would like Fable 2 as much as me and Skully have. Fable 1 seemed to take a lot longer to beat than Fable 2 did, which feels strange to me. It's such a great open game but probably not as open as Fallout 3. I know what Oblivion's like, and that game was HUGE. And there was a crapload of shit to do. Fable 2 has one main story that takes about 10-15 hours to beat, and then the replay value is found in starting over and playing it all the way through again to make different choices. I don't know if that's really how Fallout 3 works, where you can choose whether or not to be a good person, but it's definitely interesting to wonder to yourself "Gee I wonder what would have happened if I had done something else ..." then you have some other quests but they're not really of much worth once you get past the main story.
Fallout 3 seems to me to be your next game to go for! :)

personally I thought the 1st one was awsome, dont know if that makes my view bias.
In fable 1, you could be good or evil neutral. you could go from being solid evil to good and nothing would really happen. you apperance would change, people would be scared of you, and shops may give you a discount.
How ever in fable 2... the effects of being good or evil actually play some role in the game. You be faced with a few decision that will change the game. Like if you help the farmer, his farm will thrive in the future and get alot bigger, but if you take the other quest and kill him or what ever it was, it probably turns into a bandit camp or somthing (IDK I went the good route).
Yeah I also found it strange fable 2 has atleast 10 times the land that fable 1 has but the main story doesnt feel as long.
If you dont want to drop the 50$ for it, I'd atleast rent it or borrow it off a buddy.

I wish in Fable 2 I could just be somewhere in the middle between corrupt and pure. And I'm confused about the fat/thin stuff ... for some reason I'm the fattest bitch on earth right now ... and it said my fatness was -19, so I got confused and ate stuff that said Fatness +5% and things like that. It made it even worse LOL I was the fattest thing in history ... so I'm totally confused, I'll have to double check my fatness when I get home later, I think I ended the game the other day on a good dieted note :D

I picked up this DVD last night called Dead Space: Downfall, supposed to be the prequel to the video game. Haven't watched it yet, but it looks pretty neat.
The guy who plays drums in my band right now just bought Fable 2 and he's just raving about it, I'll just set up house in his living room one of these days and give it a go.

Been playing Dead Space, and Fallout 3.I'm liking Dead Space, but Fallout 3 isn't as fun as I thought it would be.I knew it wasn't a real RPG anymore, but it just feels too much like Oblivion.

dude, Dead Space. Just beat it the other day. Fucking insane story, awesome gameplay, rediculous graphics, etc. The game is just phenomenal. Do yourself a huge favor and pick it up.

I have put a decent amount of time into dead space, I like the game, its different and all, but theres better games for the money that have come out in the last couple months or will come out soon. It is fun though.

i just picked up resistance 2 and little big planet. resistance story mode was cool but as with most fps really short and easy but still fun but the multiplayer is insane with 60 player skirmish and death matches. little big planet is like no game i've played in a long time the intro screen/level is unbelievable i didn't expect that game to surprise me as much as it did its really fun with a few people.

Left 4 Dead is crazy fun, albeit kinda cheep feeling :P the physics are neat for when you nail a zombie, kinda like the physics in Area 51 (the fps) for anyone who played it.

The best I've gotten lately are Saint's Row 2, Gears of War 2, Too Human, Mirror's Edge, Fable 2 of course, Fallout 3, Burstlimit and Guitar Hero World Tour. Can't wait for Flashpoint 2.

The other night a friend and I stayed up 'till 5-6 ish playing Team Deatchmatch on Resistance 2 :O
The 60 player servers are insane! and there are tons of them filled to the brim! The maps are wide enough, and vary enough so you're not always swapping bullets (a little breathing time) and the sniping is so damn fun :)
Managed to rank first on my team once, nearly got 1/10th of the kills (team kill count was 1000 , it was a huge battle!)
Aside from the deathmatch, the coop is awesome, class based so you're looking at limited weapons, but the classes are balanced and helpful (tank type, healer, ammo giver) the healer (my choice) charges his own health and healing ability by drawing it from the enemy via a gun not unlike ut's pulse rifle alt shot. Didn't play the other classes, but on top of it all, you have leveling up and stuff, its cool! :o
So yeah, that was the best multilayer experience I've had in a LONG time :D Y'all should try it if you have the chance

I got Sonic Unleashed and The Last Remnant.
Both really good games except in The Last Remnant the loading screens are really a bother but the game is very beautiful. In Sonic Unleashed its really fun but your going to spend a good 20 minutes on every Werehog level which I honestly don't feel like I have the time for all that.

Valkyria Chronicles is pretty good, except for the story layout. It's basically laid out as if it's a history book and you go back to the book screen after each cut-scene, which is a pain, but the battles are badass and more than make up for the wait; you can also get Vyse and Aika from Skies of Arcadia on your squad, which is pretty cool.
Persona 4 is pretty nice as well. It's a definite improvement over Persona 3; also, there's a dungeon in the game that pokes fun at 8-bit RPGS complete with a boss that looks like a hero from a 8-bit RPG.

uh yeah? Your just being too skeptical, if you played it for the wii then I understand. The ps2/wii versions are a lot different then the 360/ps3, more hedgehog levels in 360.

The 360 version made me want to KILL MYSELF. Hedgehog = okay, could use more polish. Werehog = God of War for Four-Year-Olds in hell.

Too busy playing Valkyria Chronicles. If it had online play it would be Advance Wars for the PS3. But it doesn't. And that's the ONLY thing that sucks about that game.

The only drawback is a matter of personal taste: anime. If you don't dig anime art style, you may write it off too quickly as a exposition-heavy Japanese RPG. Which, under the circumstances, would make you very right - but this isn't long, drawn out and boring like a "Tales" series game, so expect a lot of military shit with a Pocky flavor to it.
I can't stand Fallout. It's Oblivion, and anyone who tries to convince me otherwise fails miserably. I also played the shit out of LittleBigPlanet, and I am digging it, actually. That and a little gem called PixelJunk Monsters. Wow, that game is addictive.

fallout isn't bad, but I definitely don't think it's oblivion. My reason? I love oblivion, and fallout 3 is just OK. No spells. I don't know why I don't love it, I admit it is pretty similar. Just doesn't feel the same.

I just feel like Oblivion was its own genre ... it had this Zelda feel but it was huge and the story actually had a meaning. And even after I beat it I still wanted to play it! Amazing ...

Oblivion bored the living shit out of me. Fallout did the same, but the difference is that F3 took a few days to bore me where Oblivion took a few hours.

I wanna know where you get all the money to just buy all these XBLA games! Every minute I look on there, you've already dl'ed the newest game, good or bad!

I play the demos first. If it's something worth having, then I have it, and that's the way I roll.
If the demo doesn't make me want to play more, then I won't even waste my time thinking about buying it. But if it gets me and I think I could have fun with it, it's a wrap, and there goes up to $15 to fuel my need to not feel boredom and my need for novelty. Like that goddamn PixelJunk Monsters on PS3 - it ate my soul, man. And it was a fucking demo. After kicking that one around for about 4 and a half minutes of saying, "Well, that was a lot of fun...I wonder if I should pick that up?", I finally decide to and it eats my soul for WEEKS. And now I feel the same way about The Last Guy. I play the demo, find out that it's a lot of fun and charming as hell, and I want to spent another ten bucks to satiate my desire for cheap thrills.
And no, I don't just d/l the newest game, good or bad. I try them all, granted, but very few make the cut, considering what all unadulterated crap is out there. Merv Griffin's Crosswords? Blow me. Even that Doritos game sucked, and that was free, and I'm SO glad for that. I want to know how that game became the winner of any contest, it's like playing Blast Corps in the 7th circle of hell. The only other free games I've ever gotten from XBL were Aegis Wing, which was a pretty good shmup considering the relative inexperience of the team that made it, Undertow (which I would have NEVER paid for), and Renaissance Faire road-building simulator Carcassone (same law applies).
But through all of this, there's stuff like SSF2THDR, Rez HD, Triggerheart Excelica, Ikaruga, Castle Crashers, Catan, the original SoulCalibur, Braid...there's a lot worth playing (and a lot that was already on DC, but I want my 1080, you dig?). Add in the fact that MvC2 is on PartnerNet (XBL's special developer-only, invite-only, NDA-signing backdoor funhouse) and there's another wad of cash that I'm willing to spend to twerk some faces online.
How do I afford all of this? I only pay for my XBLA games, but I get the MS points at discount. Out of all those (disc-based) games I just listed, I own 5 out of the 30 I listed (that were on disc). I play the rest for FREE, no torrent, all legit. But how I do that is a secret I keep to myself. Blah. :D

Gears of war is really boring, I can't seem to find the will power to actually beat the game. And the controls are sluggish. Once you start reloading you can't stop to attack, and the chainsaw only works when it wants to. Anyone else think so?

I'll never pay a dime for xbox live. Free online with ps3, and the wireless controllers even have built in chargeable batteries. I totally know what you mean, I've had all the systems now though, everything seems dull. After RE5 I'll probably just bide my time till the next elder scrolls.

Just bought a new game and I wanted to find this old thread to post on. So basically since the last post right above this one, I've only been buying gamecube games and consoles. But I just bought infamous for PS3, it looks awesome. I haven't been keeping up lately at all. I still need to try assassins creed 2 sometime soon.
I also wanted to brag on my system collection a little bit, it's not THAT great but I'm still working on it. Right now I have: Ps1, Dreamcast, Xbox, Ps2, Gamecube, 360, ps3. In the near future I'm planning on getting a n64 and a saturn.
I'm not trying to get every system, just the ones I think I'll actually play so really I'm just keeping it to systems I've owned in the past.

My gamecube is covered in dust, and in dust it shall stay. I've done the same as nintendo.... given up on it!
and it had so much potential.... and THAT is why I still hesitate to get a Wii.
I also hesitate to get a PS3... so, as an owner of many next gen consoles; what is your opinion? I hate Xbox... so that's right out. But I've noticed a few PS3 owners jumping ship to Xbox with arguements that PS3 is a sinking ship. Whassupwitdat?! The word is that too many good games and developers are going Xbox exclusive? But isn't PS3 sooooooooo much better? I know that never matters (historicaly speaking) but still....
I mean sure Xbox may or may not have a few good titles coming soon... but will anybodie's 360s still be working in a few months (ya know, because Xbox's are infamous for breaking down)?
So until the Sega rises again I'll stick to my DS, it's too simple to worry with.

Don't know, I wanted to buy a ps3 slim over the holidays and every place I called told me they were completely sold out. The guys at gamestop told me some of their customers had mentioned they were sick of the rrod thing.
It's a small city with a few other smaller cities nearby, so I called all the walmarts and kmarts around and they were out of ps3's as well.
I think the new model and price drop are working to Sony's advantage.
Plus, all the 360 exclusives I've seen are Halo type games. The only FPS games I really like are wolfenstein 3d, doom and quake.
It's not so much the games though, I don't like any console that dies so easy. It's like bedding down with a 90 year old whore you might wake up next to dead.
I had a wii for a while, it does get really really boring. My parents just bought one and they like it though.
I haven't played Nights into dreams in some time, I need to score that saturn and maybe even just christmas nights, whatever.
By the way though, I haven't ever been able to say many bad things about the ps3. If you do want a next gen console that's what I'd go with.

I am playing it too, it is quite good but feels very dated and the difficulty curve is a series of peaks and troughs, no curve. A step back from Jade Empire.

yes well it depends on the quests you take and since you can take anyone of them after playing for a while i guess i can forgive it for that.but really this game is better than fallout 3(havent played much) or oblivion.

The problem isn't that it is too hard, 95% of the game is a walkover once you win the battle with the mid 90s magic control system, but every now and again there is a fight where if you start in the wrong place you just die near enough instantly.
Finished the 4 recruiting main quests and most of the side quests, although ones that are impossible to complete (mostly because of violence) stay in my journal. :@
I also thought fallout 3 was wank, oblivion was great though.

The last time I played a new game was at PAX 09. And the last new one was Left 4 Dead 2 about 2 months before it came out. It was totally worth that 2 hour long line wait.

well the only other such game i played like this was kotor and that was made by bioware as well and one game i really enjoyed i guess you can know how i feel about it.and as for starting in the wrong place i know what your talking about.iam at this warehouse in denerim where all of the logains gaurd gang-up on me and iam not left with much space to fight in.i also had a hard time with a side quest which involved killing a blood mage.then i had to go all the way back to my camp get 2 mages and then start the fight all over again.
as for oblivion i still dont get why ppl love that game.i mean its got some of the most horrendous graphics i have ever seen in a vid game.the combat is another thing i hate about this game the most.you can easily get pwned by a single enemy.
i also hate those little triceratop like creatures near oblivion gates with their masters they hound you to death.i find myself in fights with 5 or enemies and i get pwned instantly also i think also sffers from the "starting a fight in the wrong place can get you pwned" syndrome" mostly when entering those oblivion gates and its various buildings these guys are waiting in numbers to take my head off goddamit

I finished dragonage and give it 3/10. If you like it and KOTOR then play Jade Empire and Mass Effect as they are much better...

I bought an N-gage with elder scrolls shadowkey and it rocks. Not the n-gage, just the game. All in all the n gage is pretty lame, but there are a few gems.
It's nice if you want to take the elder scrolls with you in your pocket.

The ngage arena service was shut down last year i believe, but local multiplayer is still possible. I'm going to find out if I can get service on the phone through alltel.

I paid around $90 for mine on ebay, they're not cheap as far as old phones go, but I think it was worth the price. If you get one make sure you get an MMC card, I'm looking into how to put multiple games on the same card.

The story was nice and interesting, but the problem about these kinds of games is, after you finish it you lose all interest in playing it, at least I do. Like with GTA 4 or Saints Row. Once the story is over you don't feel much more desire to continue playing it!
I'm about to trade this game in for Mass Effect 2. Anyone play that yet? I'd think it would be a nice game to play :)

Well, I played Need for Speed Shift. I'd have to say it's one of the best Need for Speed games in a loooong time. It's great too! And for the first time in 5 months, I played a 360!

I wanted to import my ME1 stuff but I had to have beaten the game first ... which I had done twice already but didn't have that save in particular ... I kicked myself in the ass after making the mistake of formatting my hard drive. I'm telling you they need to have a backup server that keeps all your saves intact in case things like that happen!

iam finished with mass effect 2 and its safe to say that mass effect 2 is one of the best video games of all time.its hellava lot better than mass effect 1.the mission structures a lot better the gameplay the storyline everything is just awesome.and the best part is i got to import my saved games over from ME1 into 2.it didnt make much difference but it still is made the game that much more personal for me.

Finished, Heavy Rain is the shit, my first ending was like 'what the fuck!!!', really good game, so intense.
I already moved to Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, it goes good until now, expect to finish it by friday.

Final Fantasy XIII and Littlebigplanet. Both good games, I hadn't really played LBP before and I'm really having fun with it now. FFXIII is not really like an FF game, but I still like it.

am now playing dmc4 PC. tis an ok game for the PC still iam enjoying playing as dante hes fast and seems more powerful than nero to me in the game :D
also finished playing RE5 for the PC its good

Red dead redemption is way fun. I just ordered 3d dot game heroes too, that looks awesome. If you haven't heard of it and enjoy classic zelda games or any retro rpg's, do yourself a favor and look it up!

I need a new Elder Scrolls game! Oblivion is still my favorite current gen game, and I still play that more than any of my newer games, although I'm just aimlessly wandering around at this point.
I'm looking at risen, but I don't really like purchasing 360 games because I don't trust the console.

Risen is on the PC as well.its a decent game better than oblivion for me anyways...i never liked that game.as for new games i just finished the new prince of persia game.its nothing spectacular

I really enjoyed the 2008 game, I was hoping the new one was going to be the sequel. That ending gave me every indication one would be out soon.

It's not too terribley exciting, but I've rather been enyoying Excite Bike World Rally. It's just a WiiWare game, but if you spent countless hours playing the NES game in the 80's.... then you'd love it. Plus Online play is fun!

I am pretty much done with my disease of endlessly downloading wii games so hopefully I will be able to play a lot more now. Although I know there are a handful of games coming out this fall and winter I must get. Mainly Goldeneye. I wish the wii could do 1080. I personally never gave oblivion much of a chance, it was OK to me but I just cant get into that dorks and orcs style of game. Fallout 3 was great because it had elements from Oblivion without all the stupid green midgets with pointy ears type of crap. Plus guns.
I am waiting on Sonic 4 to come out, There hasn't been a good sonic game since Adventure 1 other than the all star racing game. But I think this one will be good since it is a 2d game that is supposed to be a sequel to 3 and knuckles. No swords, No stupid useless friends, hopefully no more of the godawful music they stick in the sonic games these days.
I also want to play LBP2, and pre-ordered it on Amazon yesterday. My first pre-order since Mario Kart Double Dash and Soul Calibur 2 on gamecube if I remember right. Outside of that I want to play Naughty Bear. Anyone here played that yet?
