All I can say to fix it is how i fixed my dreamcast controller. Take out the screws and pull out the joystick and lubricate it. LOL damn that sound perverted. LOL But I'm can't say that will fix it.

lol, its probably entirely digital (no analog) control, if thats the case, just crack it open and make sure the switches are still working.
