I know the shock treatment, which I'm sure they do when you send your xbox in, stick a towl over it, a few towels, it will overheat and 'shock' itself back to life.

Doesn't make sense but it works. If I ever get the RRD I'll know what to do!

The towel thing actually works...

I had the RRD and the towel trick worked for about 6 months before they came back and i had to send it back to microsoft... thank goodness they changed the warranty to 3 yrs for RRD or else i would have been out 400 bucks...

never had any critical problem with my NES as far i remember, maybe a 5 years old NES could have some issues 'reading' the cartridges but wasnt any serious at all

Me neither, my NES never did anything too crazy on me, worked for 15 years before I sold it. I mean sure, the cartridges didn't work because of the contact pins but blowing on it and all the things they told you NOT to do worked for us ... lol big deal. Knowledge is power, just talking to people and seeing what they did to fix theirs is where the true power lies.

shit I take mine apart every three months and clean all of it to keep it running propperly. a shop near me has the top mounting system.

:P you can just crack open your NES and bend the pins back to where they were originally, its just a contact problem http://classicgaming.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Articles.Detail&id=256
