Its definitely for the fans, as we know (thus far) you play as Snake, but hes specifically called 'Old Snake' in game, could that assume there is going to be Young Snake game play? :D

Well, 2 was the gameplay set-up for 3. The story was garbage, sure. But the gameplay was solidified (no pun intended) with the second game.
No need? I disagree...it's the one thing that the PS3 needs to really get a foothold - a game capable of making Americans actually buy PS3s in mass quantities.

Too bad half a year later(if not less) a vastly superior version will be released on the 360. much like the other MGS games. The only thing that surprises me is that Konami hasnt milked this franchise the way Square has FF with a new game every 6 months. The PS3 doesnt need a foothold, it needs to be killed off once and for all.

I don't know. Not unless a Blu-Ray player is being developed...which is a pretty strong possibility at this point...and to answer your doubts, MGS2: Substance was the only MGS to ever appear on the Xbox platform(s). And unfortunately, I don't like it nearly as much as I do the PS2 version. I'd have loved to play it on a 360 pad, though.
I don't know if MS is getting a port of it. It's tough to say that it will or even theoretically could, what with there being one previously planned for MGS3 and it never showing up - for starters. But I guess it's possible, however highly unlikely.

I couldn't watch but about 15 seconds of them all, which was probably important. But once they started popping in the whole digital simulation popup crap I just wanted to get it all over with. :(

That and sony has a long history about lying about system specs, what they can do, and lets be honest, the "strong point" of the system is not good enough to warrant the extra money for it, that being graphics. We all know the PS3 and 360 are virtualy equal on that, and most games on both consoles look better on 360. 360 and wii both have much better games, as well as more of them. Now Ill admit the Wii has been spammed by shit companies trying to cash in, but just the nintendo games alone warrant a purchase and make it better than the PS3. 360s strong point is more on the 3rd party games, but all ive seen from the vast majority of PS3 games are very beautiful, but very bad games.

2's my favorite. Raiden was the shit. The conspiracy theory story was way more unnerving than 1 or 3, which are also great. In 1, you had a bit of a start, it was great, it was somewhat expected. In 3 there weren't really any suprises at all, and the ending was kind of boring. Still a great game.

2 was sick as fuck, the gameplay was badass, and kojima is a genious master plot twister wizard. if u didnt like 2 then that shits not for u, but those that appreciate it have real taste. 3 was real nice but 2 had more of an effect on me (in a sexy way), and 1 is a masterpiece. #1 game series in history cause its too epic

I tried Metal Gear for the first time today and I really didn't like it that much. It was really frustrating, I couldn't find anything. It would show me a door that I'm supposed to go in and then it would go back to my location and I'd have no idea where that door was.

Nahh Soccer just be patient, if youre trying the first MGS that feeling of 'dont know what to do' is complety normal, its the same feeling that you have when playing the first MG on MSX or NES (i had that sensation in 1987 XP), just give it a chance and then youll love it, cause IT IS the greatest series in gaming history...

I really didn't like 3 all that much but 2 was my favorite but it is a really good series and I thought that mgs2 on the box was better but it did have some issues to deal with.
In response to adam: I am not starting a flamewar with you but sorry dude this game won't come out on 360 Kojima said that the team had problems sqeezing the game on the 50Gb disk. 50>9.4 I am afraid, The ps3 is a decent system Uncharted, GT5: prologue, heavenly sword, and warhawk are all great games. so the library does not suck that bad I just think there is a complex that people have to join on this train of bashing the ps3 without knowing anything about it, but I don't think mgs 4 is going to be a huge system seller anyway so don't get too upset

Im not mad at anyone. But saying mgs is that good is a bold faced lie. Just looking at that genre alone. Splinter cell 1 owned the shit out of mgs 1 and 2. Outside of that mario, sonic, zelda, metroid, ut, quake, all better than mgs.

I personally liked the 1st and 3rd ones. The 2nd one was good but the story was retarded. The series is really one of the best of its genre. There are a lot of other sneaky tactical games out there that just weren't anywhere near as good as this game is. Splinter Cell is a great series too.

Actually I'd say the graphics in MGS4 were movie like :) It seemed like they were off by 1 or so, very close to the 3D rendered movies of today.

I'm playin MGS3 on ps2 and ... for some reason I feel the graphics on MGS2 were much smoother and sharper ... not sure why ... maybe just me.
But MGS4 for sure is like woah.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was a 60Hz game, the game render and logic is refreshed 60 times a second, MGS3 was a 30Hz game, since the game is rendered slower you can squeeze much more detail into the scenes and not notice a lag to the gameplay since its locked at 30Hz anyway.

Metal Gear is great...
I started playing 4, a week later came back to my friend's house and they were watching the last cut-scenes....
So I just missed out on the whole story!
Anyway, I started playing Metal Gear for the MSX(I think its called that)
And its fairly difficult... but still fun
And MGS3.. I played the whole game, in a day.... But fell asleep during all the cut-scenes..
So I still don't know what thats about
But I do plan on buying all of them and re-playing them
whenever I get a PS3... with PS2 Emulation, hopefully...
It sucks they're droppin it on all systems

i dont think its that big a deal really, since the price gap between the non bc and bc ones would usually get you a ps2 anyway.
if i had a 360 or ps3, i probably wouldnt want to risk wearing out the drive any faster than i had to by playing old games on it if i had the choice of the actual system.

But the system does upscale PS1 and PS2 games making them look better...
It would also be more simple to have one system to do both jobs.
The new PS3 hit the FCC recently so its gonna come soon, but I'll try to get my hands on one with ps1/ps2 emulation
