The "new" Xbox 360
« on: August 11, 2007, 08:20:00 PM »
This isn't more of a question that it is a story. Ok guys, im sure you all know that Microsoft is revising the Xbox motherboards to add 65nm (no clue what this means) chips into the new Xbox 360's right? Supossedly they have a new heatsink that fixed teh Red Ring issue. Not only that, but the Premiums are getting HDMI outpts now, so all is well if you were planning to purchase and Xbox.

Ok, so my friend and I spent the ENTIRE day the day before yesterday tring to find the HDMI premium. Went to countless Circuit City's, Best Buys, Gamestops and whatnot, only to come up fruitless. It's what we did yesterday too -.-

personally I don't care bout the 360 and just wanted to go home. Well, what happens when I check on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-System-HDMI/dp/B000UQAUWW/ref=sr_11_1/002-8076622-2056846?ie=UTF8&qid=1186794101&sr=11-1

Boom. there it is. I ordered him one. He owes me money  ::)

Well at least it'll look nice on the awesome TV.

Sooner or lator, I want to pick up a 360, there are a tone of games I've played on it that I like.  anyways Te new chip is supposed to be a new cpu, a more energy efficient one thats supposed to be less likely to overheat.  with that said, I bet in a few weeks or months all the old 360 stock will be gone and the new ones will be about.  So that will be my time to buy.

If the new 360's did have the new chips and whatnot to prevent overheating and things like that, I would totally go up and beyond, sell my premium 360 and get an elite just for that.

I'm going to wait until I see 45nm CPUs in them.  I don't want the hot box.

I did hear that the HDMI pros should have the heatsinks in them, but that is it.  What gets me more is that microsoft seemed to stick to the user base again.  At least when they announced the Elite they claimed it was for the video/audio buffs who wanted the best visual quality.  OK fine.  But now it's in the Pro units.  Well when I get mine back from them it better have an HDMI on it.  :P

You think so Funk? I dunno ... I mean I'd think about getting one if I knew for sure.

If you've held out on a 360 so far wait until the 65nm chips are in them.  Which should be this fall.

I was relieved that I didn't buy the elite that I was planning on getting, all I wanted was the HDMI and now that its in the premium the Elite is pretty damn pointless.  The bigger hard drive would be nice but its just not worth it.

I'd have to agree too.  I was thinking about trading my old one, and "upgrading"  in around December, but now...  We'll I'm sure I can come up with a way to replace my pro with an HDMI version.

Well I've even considered just selling my 1 year old one for a newer one for the same price ... lol I know that sounds silly but if I do it right now I can save $50 on ebay. But I'd also like to get one with the whole heat sink thing ... even though my 360 hasn't given out on me yet, I'd like to go ahead and reassure myself of that!

You're actually right. There are like 3 versions of the Sega Genesis.

Considering you get an XB360 in black, HDMI and 120GB HDD space and STILL make out cheaper than a PS3, I'm all for it.
