I kinda new to the scene just what exactly do I do with the sfv files.

You don't need to use them, but you can check to see if the files are good using it.  Just download QuickSFV and it will check each file to see if it is corrupt or not.  Worth keeping around just in case something happens to your hard drive, it can pinpoint which files are bad.
