As many of you probably already know by now, 3D Realms' Joe Siegler has officially confirmed the shutdown of the company. Meanwhile, publisher Take-Two Interactive is no longer funding the development of Duke Nukem Forever, although they retain the publishing rights.
"We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title," said Take-Two VP of communications Alan Lewis. He added: "In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever."
The brilliant part is that both Apogee Software and Deep Silver stated this won't have any affect on the creation of Frontline Games' Duke Nukem Trilogy (handheld). "Deep Silver and Apogee Software are not affected by the situation at 3D Realms," a company reps revealed. "Development on the Duke Nukem Trilogy is continuing as planned."
